Reporting in April 2025, Ground Control and Trinity College Dublin collaborated to co-create a report to analyse Ground Control’s mission in line with the EU CSDR. Fourth-year students at the university worked with Declan O’Gorman, Country Director for Ireland, and Phillip Trehern, Director, to create the ‘Nature of Business Positive’ report.

The EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) mandates companies operating within the EU to disclose their activities and the impact these have on the environment and society.

In the final report, which assessed Ground Control’s activity across Ireland, students identified Ground Control’s commitment to nature. Students highlighted how Ground Control had a “mission to enhance biodiversity and ecosystems is underpinned by their commitment to sustainability.”

Beginning in November 2024, Ground Control, the opportunity allowed students at Trinity College’s ‘Business for Nature Positive’ course to bring the complexities of CSRD to life in a real-world example. Whilst a great practical experience for students, aligning these ‘real world’ data sets and reporting framework was mutually beneficial, as Ground Control can use this as an assessment tool to help define impacts, dependencies, risks and new improvement opportunities. All whilst providing the students with vital, practical and meaningful business experience, we valued the engagement and were delighted to be part of their development.

Speaking regarding the partnership, Delcan O’Gorman, Country Director for Ireland, comments:

It has been fantastic to collaborate with students at Trinity College Dublin and to share how our sustainable business model is working in Ireland. I am thrilled they recognised our mission to enhance biodiversity, as this is something embedded in our strategy.

A heartfelt thank you to the students and Catherine Farrell for their exceptional report and insights.
